The Panamerican Institute of Naval Engineering, IPIN, announces the realisation of it's XXI Panamerican Naval Engineering, Marine Transport and Port Engineering Congress, COPINAVAL 2009, in the spa City of Viña del Mar, Chile, between the 19th and the 22nd of October 2009.

This Congress calls together all the people and companies linked, through Naval Engineering, to the marine industry and transport, such as, construction and repair shipyards, shipping companies, companies and port terminals, fishing companies, universities and investigation centres, professional academies, classification houses, equipment and naval systems manufacturers, and in short, those that want to participate and know, of the new technologies applied to Naval Engineering, and world trade.

In this event, by means of the active participation of the associates and invited exhibitors in technical presentations, symposia and round tables, it will be allowed to expose and to diffuse the development achieved by our professionals in each one of the areas touched by Naval Engineering.

Together with the XXI Congress of the IPIN, three important related events will be developed in parallel, they are the symposiums of Marine Education, X SYMMEDUC, Pan-American symposium of Design and Construction of Military Ships, XI SYMMISSEL, and MARINEXPO 2009, an exhibition open to the shipyards, makers and suppliers to show their products and services to the Naval, Marine and Industrial Community.

This Congress, the twenty first in the history of our Institute, will offer new opportunities to outline ideas and developments in the technological field and of the administration of industries and naval and marine systems, to know of the advances in multiple aspects of Naval Engineering, to establish or to secure commercial knots inside our community, and maybe the most important thing, to create or to maintain the indispensable personal contact between colleagues and associates, contact that in the long term, is the one that keeps the institutions and companies linked by our specialty alive.

 

 

 

In 1817, the Government of Chile ordered the construction in England of the 'Rising Star', only 10 years after Robert Fulton had shown the world the application of a steam machine in the Naval engineering.

'Rising Star', first ship of mixed propulsion of sails and steam, arrived at Chile in 1822.
